I first heard Paul Desmond when I was driving to Rome from Basel, many years ago. He was an American jazz alto saxophonist and composer, best known for the biggest hit, "Take Five". He was one of the most popular musicians to come out of the cool jazz scene.

Desmond produced a warm, nostalgic tone on the alto saxophone, he said he tried to sound "like a dry martini." He played with a tender and innocent rubato.

Time to discover his genius.
